Kei Mouth Beginners 1,5 Hour Beach Ride

HORSE RIDE
  • About 2 hours

Description

The Kei River Beach ride is an 1.5 hour horse ride. This ride is suitable for all ages and especially first-time riders!

This is our beginners ride and suitable for adults and children of all ages. A 1.5 hour gentle walk to beach at the Kei River Mouth and then looping back to the horse paddocks.

Are you on holiday in Kei Mouth or Morgan Bay and want to do something that the whole family can do together? We are ideally placed for a day out from East London or one of the Wild Coast Jikeleza Route resorts. If you are staying at Trennerys or Seagulls Hotels we are just over the Kei River.

Our horse paddocks are situated above the golf course at the Kei Mouth Country Club. This is the base from where we offer short day rides for local holiday makers and start overnight beach trails. We are perfectly positioned between Morgan Bay and Kei Mouth, and are a convenient day trip for guests staying at Trennerys Hotel or Seagulls Hotel across the Kei River.

Along the trail there are many lovely opportunities to take photos. Our guides are happy to stop and do a "photo shoot" on the beach and get you some fabulous pictures of you on a horse on the beach on the edge of Africa!

Itinerary

Riders should arrive 15 min before the designated time.

The ride will go out as soon as everyone is mounted and the guides are happy that everyone is safe and comfortable. You arrive at our horse yard where you are introduced to our team and horses, given a safety riding hat and asked to sign our indemnity and recreational release form.

Once you are on your horse, we give instruction on what to do (for first time riders - stop, turn, go!).
We check your stirrups, saddle girth and ensure that you are comfortable and feel safe.

The view on the first part of the trail is stunning as the horse yard is situated at the top of hill above the local golf course. You will enjoy the steady walk down the edge of the golf course heading towards the sea. Part of the trail takes you through indigenous bush and sand dune forests - they are truly stunning, and have a lot of bird life with the occasional tiny Blue Diker that may dart out past the horses.

The beach section meanders along the great Kei River Mouth as it enters the ocean. This ride is a walk, so you get to enjoy the gentle swing of the horses and the magnificent views before looping back to the horse yard.

After the ride, guests are welcome to go down to the Country Club and enjoy a cold drink and great view!

Lovely horses, mine just enough of a "challenge" to keep me riding and not get bored. Roz is a lovely guide and made sure that I was more than happy all the time. The waterfall was stunning 🤠🐎🐎🤠 and I could not believe how much amazing riding country and beach there was.
Looking forward my next ride.

Absolutely first class experience. Roz and Jess are great guides and the views or the Kei and Morgans bay amazing. You need to try this.

Wild Coast Horse Riding Adventures have been running incredible trails along one of the most diverse coastlines for the past 15 years. As a guide, I lead those trails for years and loved every second of it. The horses were too incredible for words - surefooted, responsive and reliable. All the saddles are Leon Liversage, making for a comfortable ride for both horse and human. If you haven't ridden the Wild Coast yet, it's time to put it on your bucket list.

I was apprehensive about my centre-based and mini trail week when I found I was the only guest for half the week and the other half with a Frenchman, but it worked brilliantly; the staff made me feel part of the team. It was a really wonderful fun week. Stunning, untouched landscapes, miles of perfect beaches for fast riding, excellent, well loved horses and lovely staff. Highly recommended

Unsafe horses. Arabian horses. Only for very experienced riders. Take a good helmet and vest! Lovely area.
